2:2 Coaching

Support for two leaders, guided by two coaches.

2:2 Coaching is a powerful partnership-based coaching model for colleagues who want to work better together.

Each duo is supported by two WBT coaches in structured sessions designed to help you strengthen your relationship, build trust, and improve how you collaborate in real time.

This is not mediation. It’s not therapy. It’s coaching for a relationship that matters—because how you work together impacts everything.

What We Focus On

Just like 1:1 coaching, 2:2 coaching is flexible and responsive. But it’s also guided by a shared intention: to help two people better understand and support one another as they lead.

Common areas of focus include:

  • Building or repairing trust

  • Clarifying communication and collaboration norms

  • Surfacing and navigating tension

  • Setting or reworking roles, goals, and expectations

  • Building a shared culture for your team

We’ve worked with co-founders, campaign co-leads, manager-direct report pairs, and peers navigating shared projects or transitions. Each engagement is rooted in your unique context and guided by curiosity, structure, and integrity.

Our Approach to 2:2 Coaching

It can feel vulnerable to open up with a colleague, especially when there’s tension or history. That’s why our 2:2 model is built with psychological safety at the center.

Each coach holds the experience of one person, and together we co-create a space where you both feel supported, challenged, and seen.

We coach both of you, and the space between you, so that the relationship becomes a source of strength, not stress.

Coaching sessions flow through a structure that becomes familiar.

  • As your coaches through a 2:2 journey, you can expect that we will:

    • Adhere to  the ICF Code of Ethics.

    • Support a confidential, trusting, and professional relationship.

    • Support a collaborative process of learning, sharing, and setting goals - the decision of what to work on remains with you both.

    • Make space for opportunities to reflect about the Client relationship, including the habits created and your needs and requests of one another.

    • Encourage you to practice dealing with challenges to the Client relationship using the safety of the coaching space.

  • In 2:2 engagements, we expect both parties to:

    • Exercise discipline to keep appointments and honor commitments - we kindly ask for a 24 hour cancellation / rescheduling notice.

    • Give yourself a 10 minute buffer on either end of our coaching sessions in order to be fully present (we know this isn’t always possible).

    • Turn off notifications during our sessions in order to be fully present and committed to yourselves, each other and the growth of your relationship.

  • If you are a supervisor or Board sponsoring a 2:2 coaching engagement, here’s what you can expect:

    • An acknowledgment that the coaches are not responsible for any action or inaction, or for any direct or indirect result of the 2:2 coaching services (our coaching clients are responsible for their own action or inaction).

    • An agreement to honor our obligations of confidentiality to the client - we will share observations and key takeways as they pertain to the sponsor's management and leadership of the team, but no detailed specifics from coaching conversations.

Who 2:2 Coaching Is For

Coaching is leadership development, and leadership is relational. 2:2 Coaching is for dyads who want to lead and collaborate with more clarity, care, and connection. Specifically, we developed our 2:2 practice for:

  • Co-leaders navigating shared leadership or new roles;

  • Colleagues in high-stakes, high-pressure work environments;

  • Manager/direct report pairs working to repair or strengthen their dynamic;

  • Peers working through tension or navigating shared ownership.

2:2 Coaching is Hard Work

2:2 coaching is most successful when both parties maintain a sincere desire to improve the relationship, and an open mind that improvement is possible. More specifically, 2:2 coaching clients should:

Be Open and Honest - Be transparent about feelings, experiences, and challenges to work toward resolutions.

Set Clear Goals - Establishing specific, actionable goals helps give direction to the process.

Take Accountability - Work to self-reflect, and  take responsibility for the impact of their actions and behaviors.

Practice Communication - Work on effective communication skills, such as active listening, expressing emotions clearly, and resolving conflict productively.

Commit to Change - Be ready to make the necessary changes to improve the relationship.

Remain Patient, Persistent, and Optimistic - Understand that relationship changes take time.
